SOLO Server System Requirements
If you are using our Instant SOLO Server Shared URL or Instant SOLO Server Dedicated URL services, there are no hardware or software requirements. The author interface can be accessed through a web browser. The integrated e-Commerce has the same requirements whether using Instant SOLO Server or SOLO Server.
Requirements for self-hosting SOLO Server
The system requirements for self-hosting SOLO Server are as follows:
- Supported operating systems include:
- Windows Server 2008 R2
- Windows Server 2012
- Windows Server 2012 R2
- Windows Server 2016
- Regardless of Windows server version, it must be a U.S. English version of Windows and the server must be configured with U.S. English regional settings.
- Supported database management systems include:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2012
- Microsoft SQL Server 2014
- Microsoft SQL Server 2016
- SQL Server Agent is strongly recommended to run SOLO Server's jobs. Although SQL Server Agent is not included with Express Editions of Microsoft SQL Server, it is possible to use third-party software or Windows Task Scheduler in place of SQL Server Agent to run SOLO Server's database jobs as needed.
- A valid SSL Certificate for HTTPS (secure) connections. Note that SOLO Server makes internal web service calls to itself in some areas. It is possible to disable SSL for these internal calls, but if SSL is used for them, then the SSL certificate must validate for these calls to work. (Certificates that are self-signed, for a different domain name, or that have expired, will fail to validate on the server and causes these internal calls to fail.)
- 200MB of hard drive space is required to install SOLO Server. However, the amount of space required to host SOLO Server varies on the amount of use it gets and the server configuration. Factors that impact actual space used include (but are not limited to) things like: database growth, log file growth, files uploaded via SOLO Server, etc.. For additional guidance on server requirements, we recommend that your organization's information technology (IT) resources (whether internal or a third-party consultant) establish the requirements for your server based on expected use and growth.
- An SMTP server is required to send emails. SOLO Server can be configured to use an existing SMTP server, so it may not be necessary to install an SMTP service on the web server.
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1.
Requirements for SOLO Server's integrated e-Commerce transactions
To process e-Commerce transactions, SOLO Server requires a merchant account and a compatible payment gateway service provider. A credit card payment gateway is a service which links your web site to a merchant bank network. There are hundreds of credit card payment gateways, ranging from swipe point of sale (POS) terminals to Internet-based services. SOLO Server uses a payment gateway to bill customers and issue refunds. The following merchant account providers are currently supported by SOLO Server:
Note that Dibs Debitech Web, PayPal Payments Standard, and RBS Worldpay are not compatible with Payment Plans. In addition, if using Authorize.NET, you must store full credit card information in order to use the payment plan feature (which is not recommended).
If you don't want to use SOLO Server's integrated e-Commerce functionality, you can integrate with your own e-Commerce solution as described here.
