Self Hosted Trial Tracking

With this version of trial tracking, you host the trial download form and take care of creating the trial download form. In order to use this version of trial tracking, follow these steps:

Create the trial download form to be hosted on your site. See Self Hosted Trial Tracking Form Setup.
Optionally compose a welcome email (see Creating Custom Mailings) that will be sent to the customer when the trial is initially downloaded.
Optionally compose teaser email (see Creating Custom Mailings) that is sent to customers who download the trial but do not purchase for a specified number of days.
Upload your trial to your ISP.
Edit the product for the trial, updating one of the following:
- Trial URL - Set this to the URL to download the trial from. This can either be a link to a page on your web site, or a direct link to the download file. This link will be displayed to the customer on the confirmation page with instructions to click it to download the trial. This field will be ignored if the Trial Text HTML field is populated. If you use this field, the following confirmation message will be displayed to the customer:
  Thank you for requesting a trial of Product Name. You may download the file by clicking on the download link below. Click HERE to download.
- Trial Text HTML - Enter HTML to be displayed to the user on the confirmation page. This will override the default HTML displayed, and override the Trial URL.
- Optionally, you can leave both of the above fields blank if you are sending a welcome mailing with download instructions. In this case, the following confirmation message will be displayed to the customer:
  Thank you for requesting a trial of Product Name. An email has been sent to the email address you entered, email@email.com. This email contains instructions to download and install the trial.
- Trial Welcome Mailing - Set to the mailing template that was previously created.
- Trial Teaser Mailing - Set to the mailing template that was previously created.
- Trial Teaser Days Back - Set to the number of days after the trial is downloaded in order to send the Trial Teaser Mailing campaign.
- In each of the above three cases, your existing custom html will be used for the headers and footers on the page.
- Optionally, you can also leave both of these blank, regardless of whether you are sending a welcome mailing, and instead pass in a SuccessURL and a FailureURL from your form. Upon success or failure, SOLO Server will redirect the user to these pages. This is the recommended implementation as it gives you the most control.

Once the initial setup is complete, you can add trials for additional products by creating new forms on your site with different ProductIDs.
